Go Wild
Let’s Go Wild and have a night away from the hustle and bustle of the modern world! Whether you are a family who loves to spend their holidays on a campsite and want to experience the wild side or you are simply looking to escape for a night, this is the adventure for you.
Sounds good…But what is wild camping?
As the name suggests, it just means camping somewhere wild in the great outdoors - there are no pitches, no toilets, no showers, or any of the other man-made conveniences found on a campsite. Everything you need for your time in the wild you carry yourself.
Is it legal? Yes, in Scotland it is! We have some of the best outdoor access laws in the UK and wild camping is legal here. In England and Wales you generally need to ask the landowner’s permission before camping on their land.

Depending on the capabilities of your group, you can choose between a short trip, involving a 3-5km walk before we pitch camp, or a mini expedition, involving a full-day walk to our camp spot for the night.

Location
We are lucky in the Highlands to have lots of options when it comes to wild camping. Depending on the weather and what you want to get out of your adventure, we will choose a location to suit your needs. When you get in touch to book, we can discuss where you might want to go and your hopes and aims for your family’s wild night out.
Timings:
For a short trip, we will meet at the agreed location at 4pm and be back at the car at about 10am the next morning.
For mini expeditions, our morning meet time will depend on what our aim is for the trip. We will walk till about 5pm. On the second day we will leave camp by 9am and aim to be back at the cars for 5pm at the latest.
Age Range:
Short trips can be made suitable for all ages. Any children who cannot walk the full distance will need to have the option to be carried in a child carrier that allows the adult to be hands free and also carry the equipment needed for the trip.
In the wild:
We will walk to the camp spot chosen for the night carrying everything we need with us. For short trips, we will meet at 4pm and walk between 3-5km to get to where we will camp. This will take between 1-2 hours at a gentle pace, with breaks when needed. The following day we will head back to the cars the same way we came, again with breaks when needed.
For mini expeditions, we will meet in the morning and walk all day to our camp spot, about 12-15km depending on chosen location. We will have time for stops to admire the views, have a hot drink and eat lunch and plenty of snacks! We will aim to reach our camp by around 5pm before setting up the tents and having a well-earned dinner. The next day will be another full day of walking back to the cars.
Kit:
We will provide: tents, sleeping mats, cooking equipment, midge nets, cups and spoons.
You will need to provide: sleeping bags, warm clothes, full waterproofs (jacket and trousers) toiletries, a large backpack per adult/teen and a small backpack for younger children. You are welcome to bring your own tents if you prefer.
A full kit list will be issued.
Food:
Dehydrated camping food can be provided at the cost of £15 per person for two hot meals (evening meal and breakfast), or you are welcome to provide your own food. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate is included. For mini-expeditions, please bring packed lunches and snacks, sufficient for both days
